Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We hope you’re enjoying a lovely holiday weekend.
I’m not sure if it’s the season (for me, fall and plaid are pretty much synonymous), or the fact that I’m in Texas to celebrate the holiday with my family (yes, cliché images of leather, denim, and boots abounding), but my favorite items in this week’s Seasonal Closet Update have a little bit of a grunge-meets-western thing going on. (Added bonus–if you've OD'd on the turkey and trimmings, they're pretty forgiving.)
For starters, I really love the color of this Biker Jacket from Golden Goose. While most have been reaching for one in basic black as of late, I like the take on this tan version. For some reason, it seems just a little bit tougher and more authentic—and would look as great over a white tee and jeans as it would a little printed dress. Here, I’ve paired it with a Vanessa Bruno Ribbed scarf to soften a bit of the edge.
The whole fall/plaid/Texas feel really comes through in this 3.1 Phillip Lim shirt. With just a hint of western detailing, it screams for a pair of beat-up jeans. I’m particularly fond of this distressed pair from Golden Goose (and to be honest, if you couldn’t tell already, I’m a big fan of the line in general). While most denim offerings in the “pre-loved” category can often come off a bit contrived, this pair feels just right.
And finally, because every woman needs a great day bag with a bit of funk, I’d highly suggest giving this Triangle Tote from Marni a gander. It’s got simple lines, a cool ruching detail on the edges, and is the perfect color of brown.
