Alright so I have a homecoming dance on September 19th. All of the girls wear dresses, normally something made of polyester and covered in rhinestones or sequins.
I don't really want to wear something like that, and I could wear a dress but I wanted to know what you would think if I wore a black Helmut Lang romper. I would be different for sure but it can be either dressed up or down and I would probably pair it with a beautiful cuff and these pair of leather Prada pumps. Thank you! |

OMG - I love this idea of yours! I am all for it (as a lifelong disciple of Pretty in Pink - which I see as basically what you are proposing!)
I would see if you could add some sort of ironic concession to frill, just for a wink-wink acknowledgment of your statement - like a corsage above a cuff, that sort of thing. (do people even do that anymore??) But I really like it.... and I'd like to know what others think! |

With the Corsage thing that Chris suggested, I actually have a fashion bracelet that has large enamel flowers on it and looks like a jeweled wrist corsage in bright turquoise and green. Perhaps something like that could work? I'm very new on the site and will try to get a picture of it up on my profile asap :)
Kudos to you for wanting to go against the grain for homecoming! |
