I am invited to a wedding reception that is being held at the groom's parents' home. It is in the evening, and the invitation states that attire is "casual." What does this really mean? I plan to wear a party dress, and my boyfriend is wondering if it's acceptable to wear jeans and a polo shirt. What's the protocol?

I attended a wedding to which I was told it would be dressy casual, well when I showed up most of the people were wearing flip flops, jean skirts, cargo shorts. If you look thru my looks, you'll see what I wore to me it was a semi casual teal dress with black peep toe pumps. I thought is wasn't too dressy nor too casual. My husband wore a long sleeve button down shirt, tie and dress pants. And we were the best dressed there!!!! So it depends on how the couple dresses usually that will help you decide whether or not you could wear a very casual outfit. I hope it helps!
