Ok, so I know this is weird but I have a strange question.
I'm a 32DD and I grew up quite flat so I'm still getting adjusted to my last growth spurt. So ya, I'm trying to fit swimsuits but it seems no matter what I do I have a problem with my top. It seems that unless I go with a cover all tanktini or something I'd rather avoid, my chest kind of leaks out the top of the bikini on the sides near my arms. It's like a boob muffin. I found a sample pic online - not me but very similar. I'm still a 32 so it's not that I need a ton of support, I just think it looks a bit... well obscene. I know I'm 25 but I'm not 'that girl' :\ I have the suits in question in my beachwear section. I love the rainbow one but it just has this problem. Help? Is it supposed to look like that or should I keep going up in size? Thank you in advance my pseudo web sisters |

You're so cute! OK, here's my first thought: triangle tops are the least supportive type of top and, though they can be really sporty in a way because you can tie the top tighter, they don't really, well, control things. Have you tried a more solid halter top? I'd imagine somethign that has more fabric around the outsides would rein things in a little. And if you are committed to the string look, you can get one that has string along the bottom.
Hope that helps! |

Another idea... what about something with an underwire that's suited to D cups? I found this on J Crew, which comes in like 100 colors:

I have the same problems as you! I started buying my swimsuits from www.bravissimo.com - they have some cute styles that come in bra sizes, as well as clothing. It does have to ship over from the UK, but their shipping isn't too bad. Their bikini tops come in big bra sizes, and are a miracle compared to the triangle tops! I don't know about you, but for me the car ride to the beach would be hellish due to the strings digging into my neck from the weight they were holding up! Also, their clothing is pretty cool because their size chart takes into consideration bra size, so their blouses fit nicely in the boobs, yet still nip in nicely at the waist too. Hope this helps! And I'll let you know if I ever find an American retailer that's good for big boobs too...

Love that site but I'm a little confused. I'm a size 2 in the US. Do they not carry that size? From what I can tell it's only size 6 and up.

Ok Its actually UK sizes, which is different from here. I think they used to have a size chart on the website, but you can probably just google a conversion chart. As for the bikini tops and bras, they go by bra size, which is the same as us

Have you tried Shoshanna? Her bikinis always have small sizes with big cup sizes.

I agree on Shoshanna - but I am not a fan of her bottoms, so make sure you like both pieces from a bikini from her.
The other great brand is Malia Mills, where you buy the pieces separately, so that you can fit your top and bottom exactly. She has a large number of sizes and styles, and it generally super cute. http://www.maliamills.com/ Boob muffin - love it - I always called it the "chicken cutlet" issue!! |

Another great swimwear designer that cuts for larger tops is Becca swimwear, and her pieces are also available as separates. Since you are small (a 32) a top that comes in a D for coverage and ties should be enough support, it is sufficient for me as I have a similar problem. Also the most extensive and best swimwear shop is www.everythingbutwater.com, which has a complete category of D,DD swimwear.

I feel your pain with the bathing suit....I just bought one that is really cute and fits a larger chest, but it is a one piece. I was a little hesitant at first because I like bikinis, but it turned out great. It's styled after the 1940's bandalino (don't think I spelled that right) type suit and it really looks good and makes for a great waist line. If I remember the store name, I will send it to you.
Best of luck! |
