Ok, I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I am without a LBD in my closet. I HAD a great one by La Perla, but sadly it does not fit anymore. (Working on that with a personal trainer). In the meantime, I feel the need to find another really great one. Can you please help me find a stylish, hard-working little black dress?

What do you need the dress for? I find lately that the dresses I buy have to double for work and going out, so nothing to low cut or tight for me.

Right now I love the Michael Kors Knitted Wool Dress in Dsptchkity closet - it's available at www.net-a-porter.com

Also I am a big fan of the shift dress. Jcrew has a couple of dresses under the suiting that can be dressed up or down. I've had my eye on the Super 120s Blair Dress.

I am just looking for going out options. I rarely wear all black to work because it feels depressing somehow. I need that pop of color! I'm a big fan of shift dresses too, and I think I know the one from JCrew you are talking about.

Here a few from bluefly - although sizes are extremely limiting on a few.

I have a favorite LBD from GAP, so I checked there first. I found better options at Banana Republic, though.
I particularly liked the elegance of this one:

But, just type "black dress" into the "search" feature and you'll get a whole page. :-)

At Ann Taylor, I typed in "black dress" and saw a bunch that I thought fit your style. Definitely check this page out www.anntaylor.com.

Moltenblue: Ann Taylor was a great thought! I do love their suits and separates for work, but do not really have luck with them when it comes to dresses. Something about the way they are cut; if the top fits, the bottom does not and vice versa.

The issue here is that I am looking for something with a much sexier vibe; classic sexy. I do have that side....you should see the gorgeous bras and panties I got in Rome! So, let's channel our inner sex goddess and see what we can dig up!

Have you ever tried a dress from Black Halo - their Jackie-O dress is a classic and shows a lot of curves.

I know you want black, but it looks amazing in red too.

Acne has a whole LBD dress collection this Fall. This blog did a whole feature on it, basically there are 8 cuts so whether you like class, structured/modern-ish, or vintage you're set. I really like this brand- it's a little pricey, but there's pretty much something for everyone.

Hope that helps!
