Hi ladies (and gents!)

I'm going to a wedding reception evening do next Saturday. I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on a couple of options? http://www.closetcouture.com/members/justapuppy/mylooks/

It's in Essex in England - the English countryside. Your opinion would be great! If I need to get any accessories, a new dress etc. I have about 60pound ($80?) available...

Thanks!

I like this option a lot, esp the color of the dress - it's gorgeous. I think you need to add a great necklace and bracelet combo to jazz it up just a little for wedding-ready. Also, not to sound like a silly American here, but what is the hat protocol? Do you need to wear one? Because I could see a huge blue and cream situation on your head that would look amazing.....

Hiya, thanks for the suggestions about accessorise, I never tend to wear enough, and I think you're right that it help the look a lot! I'm definately not a hat kind of girl, and because it's an evening do I think that would be ok. Maybe some nice hair accessory or something could be added....

Time for a shopping trip I reckon!

I think you should go with option #2 as well. I picture some bold accessories (see pic). Topshop has really great accessories at fantastic prices (that is where I pulled these from).

I'd go for option 1 and update it with several gold bangles; cream & gold tear drop earings & a gold clutch or option 2 could be worn with silver tear drop earings & metallic phyton heels and a cocktail ring to make it more modern.

If you're not a big fan of heels and want something semi formal you could go for jewelled flats and a fascinator/head piece which is basically fabric strips on a comb or headband. The jewellery would have to be simple just studs and a plain clutch. As the focus would be on the fascinator & dress.

All the above could be found in Debenhams/Accessorise/New Look well within you're budget.

I agree with option #2 as stated above- the color is rich and great for a summer wedding. And your accessories can set the tone for the dress- whether that be modern, more sophisticated/ elegant or playful depending on the look you want/type of wedding. As the lines of the dress are so simple, I think your accessories should reflect this and should stay away from heavier accessories. I would suggest simple gold/silver drop earrings or a more delicate bracelet as opposed to a cuff with a lot of hard wire.

Hi ladies, I want to say a huge thanks for all your ideas! Ashley the pictures you've put together look so great - it's a real help to start me looking tomorrow night! I'll get myself to the big Topshop on Oxford Street :-D Divalicious, I'll have a look for a fascinator that might work, will see what I an find, because that's a great idea. Courtney, I definately agree that delicate is good for jewellery. The dress has an amazing bird, and tree lining. Although no one will see that it really adds to the princess feeling to it!!

It's such a shame - I've had this dress for a few years, it was an impulse buy - a Paul Smith dress for 30 pounds brand new, I had to have it! I still have never worn it, so I'll be really happy to finally give it an airing.

Big genuine thanks to all of you for helping ease my mind on this. I was a bit nervous as it's my boyfriend's colleague, so want to make a good impression. I'll be sure to post the final outfit when it's all done.

X

Howdy, just wanted to update you with what I wore in the end. I was all ready to go out and my boyfriend said the Paul Smith dress (Option 2) was too big and shapeless - lost a bit of weight recently. Really he was right, although I was gutted! Ended up in the dress from Option 1, but the planned accessories from Option 2. Anyway, this was the final look http://www.closetcouture.com/images/10728/viewimage/
Met loads of his colleagues and it was a lovely night !
