I went on a shopping trip to Chicago 3 summers ago, and am traveling back with my boyfriend in July for a shopping trip as well. I did the Magnificent Mile thing, and ventured off to some side streets. I went to a few vintage stores also. I'd like to know of some stores that I need to visit. (esp. vintage stores)

Thanks!

I am not a Chicago expert, but my favorite store in town to get some inspiration is Ikram. The owner, last name Ikram, has an amazing eye that pulls the best high-end fashion from both known and lesser-known designers. There is quite a range of beautiful things to look at - and if it is out of your price range (out of mine!) I always like to look there first and then hit the vintage and other stores with those styles in mind.

Ladies, anyone know Chicago? What else is great?

I'm a huge fan of Lucky Mag's city guide - one of the vintage stores that they suggested was Lulu's at the Belle Kay located in Lincoln Square.

check out www.chicagofashionresource.com/ There is a list of local designers there. They will talk about their style and have links to their web sites so you can check out their line before you head out.

Here is another link that would be a good one to flip through

I have lived (& shopped) in Chicago for 15 years....here's a list of some Vintage stores (wasn't sure what kind of vintage you were looking for), as well as some of my favorite shops in Chicago. Most of the stores I listed are in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area....which is a fab neighborhood to hang out in for a day (and a night!).....kind of like the soho of Chicago. Enjoy!

Have you tried looking at the boutique designers? Chicago has a lot of those now and they can be found in Akira (as blondeninja mentioned). Also, there is this cool Chicago website that makes it easy to buy and book fun things to do - http://www.funsherpa.com so you can add fun activities to shopping while out here in Chicago!
