Ladies, what is your theme for your fall wardrobe? And what key pieces do you have? What key items are you hunting for?
I don't have a good name for my look this season. I think I am calling it "understated librarian chic." The plainer, the better. So far, I have a couple of plain dark pencil skirts (consignment and Gap), a lot of plain and one plaid cotton button-down shirts (Steven Alan, Gap, Jcrew, Urban Oufitters), old slim navy pants (Katayone Adeli), old navy jeans, a black silk minidress with illusion neckline (Geren Ford), black double breasted vintage style jacket ($30 at Forever21 -- I am amazed at the quality for the price), plain black low-wedge pumps (Marc by Marc Jacobs), brown booties (Urban Outfitters). Everything matches and I have lots of outfits for work. (I am kind of excited.) I just bought a vintage gold slinky belt on Etsy (great resource for vintage) to wear over the oversized button down shirts. I am maybe keeping my eye out for some pleated vintage pants. That's about it. What about you? |

I must say I don't really have a theme for fall, but I'm consistently buying vintage pieces to mix and match with my key items that include a motorcycle jacket, black lace-up boots, bandage skirts, navy and white striped tees, button-down shirts, and cropped trousers. I just bought some black vintage Dior pants that are high-waisted with a wide leg and I love the idea of pairing them with a navy and white striped tee.
I've been searching for the perfect pair of vintage combat boots in black but I can't seem to find any small sizes (6 1/2). |

Wow, your look sounds really interesting. It must have a name. Easy Rider meets Jean Seberg in Breathless?

I can't seem to stop stocking up on pieces with exposed zippers. I loved the way they were used in the 3.1 Phillip Lim and Preen Spring 09 shows.

I think I'm leaning towards feminine, slightly fitted dresses with a jacket or cardigan, dark tights, and boots. And dark jeans with a pretty top and cardigan is always a comfortable stand-by. Not sure I can name it, but based on the first episode of 30 ROCK this season, I'll dub it the "Liz Lemon."
I also want to embrace the belt over everything look, but want to avoid looking like KCAL Channel 9 weather girl Jackie (the woman doesn't go on screen without a belt, whether it's needed or appropriate or whatnot). I'm not sure if I want to invest in a few key designer belts, or stick to what I already have (from BR) if they look alright still? Sigh... Joanna - I envy you and your 6.5 shoe size! I have some Chanel combat boots from the 1992 season, but they are a size 8.5. |

I LOVE the wardrobe you described! Our theme is definitely 'working wardrobe'. Multiple pieces which match in tons of different ways. Accented by interesting scarves, accessories, makeup plays but smart shopping where its all interchangeable!

Ah, I love the term "working wardrobe." That is what I want to build from and expand upon. I'm working on getting some good key pieces and chucking out the old. Thanks!

HELP! I haven't even had a chance to finish some of the basics for my fall wardrobe...let alone putting them (in some fantasy of organization) onto CC - and I am freezing! Many clothes back in London, out here - Denver - I have lotsa casual clothes, lotsa layered - thank heavens some boots so far - BUT WHAT ON EARTH DO I WEAR TO KEEP WARM??? In London, etc I could easily, happily get by with layers - & change looks & update - but now it's COLD - & the coats seem boring. For you all in the East Coast - anyoe else - any thoughts & input would be much appreciated. Weather just changed overnight & I have no back up; but most of the shops I hit today had just icky boring puffy things or thuddy grandma's coats...many gracious thanks

Like you I lean towards Librarian Chic - with sexy shoes of course! I love heels and have plenty, but I steer towards wedges if I can. Like Swoon by Elizabeth and James, just scored them on ebay!
http://okmagazine.pixazza.com/product/imag...ge-booties.jpeg As I posted in "Things I Love" - I am really excited about the Burberry Prorsum RTW Fall 2010, and also about EVERYTHING that Dries Van Noten has ever created, lol. http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2010RTW-DVNOTEN I am staying away from chunky knit sweaters in favor of a volumous warm scarf or cape this fall. I would really love an animal faux fur neck cozy as seen by Dries. It looks great on the 14 yr old models, but I don't need much "chunkiness" up top because I am busty as of late, haha. I would enjoy a nice leather pencil skirt (ann taylor loft had one last year that was nice). I highly recommend my 1914 Doc Marten black boots - utilitarian (great tread in ice!) yet very versatile. They hit mid-calf and are very comfortable. BUT AT THE TOP OF MY LIST is a great winter coat. Preferably olive green with loose sleeves and a funnel neck? I find that banded middle makes for a wonderful silouette. - D |

? This was a reply to Joanna, but "reply" to her post sent me here - please fix?
Hi! I wear a 6, and I mentioned my vintage-esque 1914 Doc Martens. They are 14 eye and a bit slimmer than the usual DM. I love them! And they come in small sizes. I ordered mine early this year on zappos, so you can always return them hassle free! Just a thought - they might be a little too punkish than what you're looking for. |

I'm dying to try some jeggings, I'm searching to see if I can find straight leg or bootcut ones, i'm not big on the skinnies trend. I'm also planning on picking up a couple of tunics and boyfriend cardis. I've got enough heels and boots, I wanna buy a couple pairs of flats.

Large dark sunglasses
First of all because the big, Burberry Outlet wear in the face, the face small almost can cover the whole face, Burberry Online Shopping the face big can also covered a 1/2 to 1/3. Another choice dark glasses because the benefits of wearing the glasses, the other people can not see their own eyes, Burberry Handbags On Sale and his glasses under the cover of looking all around. http://www.burberry-outlethandbags.net |
