Laura and I happen to go to school in the mountains of upstate New York. Though it hasn't started snowing yet it is always a struggle to look cute while bundled up completely from head-to-toe. Any thoughts on how to stay fashionable but stay practical?? Warm but cute coats? Cozy boots?

Layering is key for frigid temperatures, but there's no reason why you can't look cute at school all bundled up. Try an empire waist coat worn snug. It's a more fashion-y piece that can take a basic sweater and jeans combo from drab to fun. Look for ornate button details and a great color. Shoshanna makes a great one that can be found here:
http://www.shopbop.com/stitch-detail-empir...gory-shopbysize Alloy has some amazing over-the-knee (an "IT" item for fall) boots for fall/winter with cute hardware details. Not only will they keep your legs warm, but you can wear them with jeans and over tights for many different looks. And, they're a great price. With the limitations of winter weather, playing with color when buying scarfs and hats is essential. For fall/winter I am loving coats with feminine ruffles.
For those days where leather or suede just wont due with all the slush and salt on the roads I always turn to Hunter Wellington Boots with some cozy socks. They are classic and get the job done. Check out the new Lady N Hunter Boot along with the classic Hunter Wellington Boot here. http://www.shopbop.com/hunter-boots/br/v=1...er-hunter_boots |
