The "Icon Trench," by Jcrew, is exactly what I am looking for in a trench coat; however, they do not sell it in tall sizes, and I am a 6' tall with a small-medium but athletic frame, so sleeve length and width at the shoulders is a huge issue, along with being smaller in the middle. In regular sizes, I usually have to buy up for my arms and shoulders but then item is huge on my torso. I realize I can get items altered, but at some point, it isn't even worth it if sizing is too off.
Where can I find a beautiful and super classic trench coat for tall women?!
this is a tough one..... my first instinct is to call J. Crew and ask them to make you one to measure. I have a great trench from Martin Grant (who is the in-house designer for Barneys right now) - I would look at the Barneys in Chicago - and for sure at the Coop one, too.
Burberry may be a good idea to investigate to see if there outerwear section has a great coat for men - you can get the longer, leaner frames there, I would suspect.
Aside from that, dare I suggest that you go custom? Most good tailors would be able to custom make you one - especially tailors that specialize in men's wear - the trench would probably be easy.
Anyone else have good ideas on this?
Burberry's trench coats used to come with sizes for different heights, not sure about their currently collections though.
